These are the shorts I reach for most often, and it's not even close. They're super comfortable and airy, and the fabric is thin and moisture-wicking so they dry really quickly, but not see-through. I love how the back is a little longer than the front. I wear them for weightlifting, running, and running around to kids' practices and sports events.
Brooks Movement 3" Dolphin Short

These shorts are incredibly comfortable and offer total freedom of movement, whether I'm squatting, running, or doing strength training. There's no pulling or tension points at all. The material feels light and airy but also high quality, and compared to other athletic shorts I own, these are definitely the most suitable for long distance running or even sprinting. They do run a little bit small in the waist, so keep that in mind when ordering. The built-in liner is more of a tighter underwear-style modesty layer rather than a full short underneath. That means they feel very free-flowing, which is great in a lot of ways, but I'd love to see an option with a little more coverage underneath since they don't offer a ton on their own. After about a dozen wears and washes, they've held up really well. No loose threads, nothing coming apart, no shrinkage. They're just as good as brand new. I work out outside in northern Michigan doing running, strength training, walking, and jogging, and also use our home gym. These shorts handle all of it.
The Brooks Movement Dolphin Shorts are one of my favorites for both lounging and working out. The fit and comfort are perfect, and the waistband doesn't roll down or feel too tight like a lot of shorts do. The fabric is great quality and washes well. I usually hang mine to dry, but I don't think the dryer would hurt them. They're holding up really well after multiple washes, so I have zero concerns about durability. These are a great value, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants something nice and durable.
These shorts are really comfortable for walking and running, and the waistband sits perfectly without pinching, squeezing, or riding up or down. They move really well with my body. I typically wear a 4-inch inseam, and at 3 inches these can feel a little shorter than I'd prefer, especially jogging, but they're comfortable enough that I still wear them regularly. I've been using them for a few months now and they still look good as new.
